"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." I Timothy 4:12 (NIV)
Who We Are!
PVBC began as a recreation facility for a local church AWANA Club program. Very soon people began asking if they could bring youth groups to the camp for retreats. After several years of winter camping, a summer camp ministry began. The camp has been incorporated and is now governed by a board of directors. The camp program as well as the facilities have been developed by adherence to the motto "We walk by faith".
What We're About!
We teach the principles of the Word of God both by word and by example. We teach and preach the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ through selected counselors, speakers and staff. We promote, maintain, and defend the principles and faith of evangelical Christianity. We provide a healthful and recreational program in a Christian atmosphere.
Where We're Located!
PVBC is nestled in a beautiful valley adjacent to the Jordan River area of northern Michigan. We are centrally located between the villages of Central Lake, Bellaire and East Jordan. It is approximately forty-five miles north east of Traverse City. We are situated on eighty-five acres with frontage on an inland lake. You can reach us from either M-66 to the east, or US-31 to the west. Contact us and we will be happy to answer any questions about your camping needs!
What We Offer!
PVBC is licensed for 180 campers in the summer time. We have a heated, enclosed, in-ground swimming pool with changing rooms and showers. The pool has become a part of winter retreats as well as a most popular spot in the summer. A gymnasium with "rec" room enhances summer rainy days as well as all year recreation. We have a large rustic dining hall overlooking a peaceful pond. Summer services are held in a lovely hillside chapel. Services in the fall and winter are held in our new indoor chapel. Four cabins and Frontier Town are the summer housing for the boys. A large A-Frame dorm, a mid-sized cabin and two "doll" houses accommodate the girls. Recreational activities include dune carts, miniature golf, Bible Land, archery, bowling, 9-hole par 3 golf course, as well as all of the various ball games. You can boat and fish at the lake or you can visit the four shops that make up the Pleasant Valley Mall. During the winter season you will find activities such as boot hockey, ice skating, tubing, cross-country skiing, bowling or snack shop. It is all here for you to enjoy as you lean the truths of God's Word from very special speakers.
